I wanted to do a post on poetry and was looking through my books and I thought of May traipsing around Scotland and the wonderful photos of the cemetery she posted. That reminded me of a piece I read about Robert Burns, highly regarded as the national poet of Scotland. But, there was another side to the respected poet and that was as ‘a rustic Don Juan’ who enjoyed the ladies and a good bawdy song, As the author and editor of The Merry Muses of Caledonia, Burns collected and published some of the ‘lustiest, funniest poems ever penned’. The article was in EROS #3, published in 1962. That edition happened to have a sexy blond on the cover, maybe that’s why I remembered as I was thinking of May. Here is the article… the only poem they state that he wrote is The Fornicator.

What a fabulous post Elliott – I keep forgetting about Burns but no enjoy a bit of wit with my poetry so will see if i can download some on to my kindle – that book Eros – was amazing – I think I remember you said it was banned eventually?
